Here at Torquay Online we like to support all local businesses. I recently spoke to Tereska Sliw, owner of TeeReskah Photography, about her recent move to the area and career ambitions.

Tee is now Torbay based wedding photographer. She recently moved into the area and would like to introduce herself and her business TeeReskah Photography to the community (Facebook Page). After years spent working in London she fell in love with English Rivera and decided this is her place on earth.

Why Torquay and how do you find it?

I absolutely love Torbay, I love the sea, it inspires me. The air is much cleaner and people are so much more friendly than anywhere else, I regret not moving down here sooner.

Tell us a bit about yourself, how did your business start?

I just moved in from London, where I lived for the last 16 years.

Its very busy and oversaturated place for all the creatives.

Except photographing weddings I would shoot portraits, particular events like London Fashion Week or work on the film sets as a unit still photographer alongside well known celebrities.

I still do all that but I think its definitely time to slow down and concentrate on fewer projects.

Since an early age, I always loved taking photos, to me it’s a bit like magic to be able to catch the moment and carry it for future generations.

Catch that atmosphere and emotion that otherwise would be soon forgotten. I feel privileged to be trusted to do that for my couples.

Why wedding photography?

Weddings are my favorite because I am with the couple all the time and can observe them from getting ready moments through the ceremony when they become husband and wife for life to that usually emotional first dance.

I can see the dress before anyone else, how amazing is that? I’m always very excited and happy for my couple.

And I always do my best to produce truly beautiful images of the most important day of their lives.

And to know that their children and grandchildren will appreciate my work one day is simply amazing.

How do you make sure you deliver results your couples will love?

I always have a pre-wedding consultation with all my clients. I ask them a series of questions to make sure I understand what they are after, what are their likes and dislikes, what is particularly important to them. And then I make sure I keep all that in mind as I work. I want my couples to be happy with the outcome, and it’s not only because they pay me, but because they trusted me and that’s most important.

How would you describe your style of photography?

That’s always a difficult one but I would definitely say classy, elegant yet modern.

I like going for new trends in photography keeping it elegant and authentic at the same time.

Plenty depends on my couple and their personalities as except group photographs that I choreograph I like to watch, observe and snap candid photos of authentic moments and interactions between family and friends.

Those moments are priceless and most loved by my clients.

Have you got many weddings booked?

Yes, I do but mostly in London so I travel a lot, which is not ideal. Once you come here you don’t really want to leave 🙂

Are there any other projects you’d like to tell us about?

I am in the process of organizing my own studio at the moment and I’m very excited to start my Vanity Fair portraits project.

It will be an elegant version of classic portraits looking deeply into people’s hearts to catch that true spirit of who they are.

It may sound a bit over the top but that’s my ambition and I know it will be a very special experience for my clients.

I already work with a number of stylists and makeup artists who are happy to join me to produce amazing result.
