Business Woman of the Month June 2019 – Katie Barbara Petzing

As we head into the Summer (although it’s hard to tell), Torquay Online is still celebrating local businesses.

A massive congratulations to June 2019’s Torquay Online business woman of the month, Katie Barbara Petzing. Katie owns KP Hair Design, and in her own words…

“I am a mobile hairdresser and offer a wide range of hairdressing services all within your own home. My main aim is to make a difference. To make people smile and feel confidently beautiful.”

Our mobile hairdressing page is the best performing page on our website, and because of that we’ve been able to send Katie a few enquiries, and she has amazing reviews from everyone we’ve passed her way.

We recently asked Katie a few questions about running her business. Read below to see what she said.

How did you get into starting the business?

After working in many salons, it became so clear to me how difficult it was for people to get to salons, whether that be isolation or even just a busy lifestyle.

So I figured why not build a service wanted by so many to suit around their needs rather than my own?  

What is the most rewarding part of running your own business?

Making a difference to people’s confidence and happiness.

What has been the most difficult part of it?

Finding time to sit back for a glass of wine.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to continue to provide a loyal, reliable and dedicated service to those of Torbay.

Any advice to young people in the area looking to start a business?

Don’t go into it half hearted.

Be passionate and you’ve got to love what you do.

Work hard and look towards the future.

Sometimes having your own business comes at great sacrifice – be it time with family or social life.

The harder you work the better the rewards of being your own boss

What’s your favourite thing about Torquay?

Coco’s Cocktail bar mostly, however the beaches are something else.
