July’s business woman is Lorraine Littlewood. Lorraine owns Think.Act.Grow (website link) (Facebook link), a fantastic business based in Paignton who provide many different services to customers across South Devon.

If you’re looking for help with marketing your business, get in touch with Lorraine today. They also offer printing and graphic design services, so if you run a business, Think.Act.Grow can help you in many different ways.

I recently asked Lorraine a few questions about running her business. Here’s what she said…

How did you get into starting the business?

In my previous life I was working for a large, National advertising and marketing company, visiting around 200 small to medium businesses across the South West, every year.

Those clients frequently explained that they had no idea which part of their marketing was working, couldn’t keep control of what they were spending and, essentially they needed help.

This is what gave me the idea for my business.

I could help these busy business owners make the most of their marketing spend, so they could get on with what they do best!

How long has the business been running for?

I have been up and running for about 8 years now. Wow, where did that go?

What is the most rewarding part of running your own business?

The lovely feedback I get from my clients. They really appreciate how much I help them and the difference I can make to their business.

What has been the most difficult part of it?

The most difficult part has been juggling my own business and managing my time effectively….and I have to admit my accounts tend to pile up a bit sometimes!

Any plans to expand in the future?

I would like to do more of the design and print side of my business.

This is what I see as my area of growth.

Any advice to young people in the area looking to start a business?

Working for yourself is definitely not an easy option.

I’ve often been found burning the midnight oil; but if you have a dream, then do it!  The rewards are immense.

Times will be tough – that is a certainty; stay focused and don’t give up.

Also I love a piece of advice from Richard Branson, who says ‘If someone asks you if you can do something, say ‘Yes’ and work out how you do it afterwards!’

What’s your favourite thing about Torquay?

There are so many things I love about living here but I guess my favourite is that when you get some time out, you can take a walk by the sea or a short drive to some stunning countryside and it’s like being on holiday for a few hours; so relaxing and blessed to be in this wonderful place.
.

Thank you so much Lorraine for taking the time to answer our questions in such detail, and congratulations on the success of your busniess so far!
