As well as adding new members to Torquay Online this week, we had the chance to meet the new owner of Exeter Concrete Pumping Dean McCarthy, and ask him a few questions about why he took over the business and how it’s running so far.
Exeter Concrete Pumping is basically a huge pump that can take your concrete from A to B. Instead of having people put it in a wheelbarrow and carry it to where it needs to go, you just fill the pump and pour the concrete where it needs to go. It can pump up to 76 metres, meaning it can get to places that can usually be very difficult to get to.
Although Dean only took over Exeter Concrete Pumping in July, it has been established for around 6 years and covers the entire South West, including Torbay. They are one of only four main line pumps in the whole of Devon and Cornwall, and Dean is hoping to add more pumps to the business over the next couple of years.

Dean’s been in the building trade for over 20 years which is over half his life. He’s spent the majority of his career working for his family business but decided to take over Exeter Concrete Pumping to be his own boss and for his family’s future. Plenty of tradespeople in Torbay will have worked with Dean and will know how hard working and reliable he is.
Dean also manages TA Ambers under 12’s football team.
