Every month we celebrate a man and woman who have been doing excellent things in local business.
This month’s business man of the month is Matthew Zadel, who runs PPE & Hygiene Supplies (Website), (Facebook). Although it has only been running for 6 months, this business is very relevant to the ongoing Covid crisis, and I asked Matthew a few questions about him and his business.
How did you get into running the business?
The birth of PPE & Hygiene Supplies has been quite by chance, since the start of Pandemic I had noticed other suppliers were struggling to source stock, and my experience and contacts allowed me to quickly build a supply chain with trusted suppliers.
What is the most rewarding part of running your own business?
Helping people to stay safe, and saving them money in these unprecedented times.
What has been the most difficult part of it?
Finding time for my family, the last six months has seen us grow from an idea into a key supplier into multiple sectors, this has meant it has been intense, leaving little time for anything else.
Any plans to expand in the future?
Yes, I am really keen to see if we can potentially work with some young people who are looking for a chance to develop as individuals. Ideally with some that have no clue what they want to do, trying new things is the key to finding something you love.
Any advice to young people in the area looking to start a business?
If you don’t try, you can’t win.
What’s your favourite thing about Torquay?
Driving down to Torre Abbey when the sun is out, in my opinion it like being in the South of France.
Thank you so much to Matthew for answering our questions, and congratulations with all you’ve achieved so far.
