**If you run a local business and you’d like to reach more people, contact editor@torquayonline.com to find out how.**

Every month we like to celebrate a business man and woman who have been doing great things in the Bay.

This month’s business man of the month is Tim Wright, owner of DDC Scaffolding (website).

We are always seeing DDC Scaffolding signs all over the area, so it’s clear Tim and his team are busy and doing a great job! Give their Facebook page a like to support local business. They can also be found on the scaffolders page on our business hub.

I recently asked Tim a few questions about running his business. Here’s what he said…

How did you get into starting the business?

I found scaffolding really interesting and enjoyed working outside so wanted to combine the both.

How long has the business been running for?

My business has been running since October of last year.

What is the most rewarding part of running your own business?

By providing a reliable service and making sure that all jobs are carried out safely gives me pride, especially when after the works are complete and we get recognised as being reliable and praised with how well the job was carried out.

Getting customer satisfaction is the most rewarding part of the job.

What has been the most difficult part of it?

With all business start ups it’s proving to people that we are capable of doing the work and that the service we provide will be the best.

Getting a customer base is the hardest part of building the business, but once they have used us they soon recommend us and use us again.

Any plans to expand in the future?

I am currently up to 5 employees and have set my target to 10 men within 2 years. I am also looking at getting a 18 tonne lorry which will enable us to do the larger jobs a lot easier.

Any advice to young people in the area looking to start a business?

Just make sure you follow up with your promises because as soon as you let people down then your business will fail.

What’s your favourite thing about Torquay?

I love the fact that most of the places we work are not far from the sea.

Thanks Tim for taking the time to answer our questions! Remember to get in touch with DDC Scaffolding for all your scaffolding needs.
