Over the past few days, people in Torbay have been voting for their favourite restaurant.

In total there were 1804 votes and an amazing 72 restaurants nominated. It goes to show that we have some amazing places in the Bay to eat.

Unfortunately, there can only be one winner, and with a huge 274 votes, the winner is…

Meat 59

They are an extremely popular restaurant on Abbey Road and are best known for their quality burgers. They were even ranked 7th best burger in the UK by TripAdvisor last year. If you fancy trying out one of their fine burgers (or anything else on the menu), get over to their Facebook page and get in touch with them.

I briefly spoke to Josh, one of the managers, to inform them about their win, and he had this to say…

“Thanks to everyone who voted for us. We’ll keep on doing what we’re doing as long as people keep coming here.”

Massive congratulations to Meat 59.

Although there is only one winner, there are loads of other restaurants that came close. Here’s the rest of the top 10.

2nd place – Yum Sing – 230 Votes

3rd place – Cattlemans Steakhouse – 220 votes

4th place – Small World – 173 votes

5th place – Below Decks – 118 votes

6th place – KindaKafe – 96 votes

6th place – The Orange Tree – 96 votes

8th place – Legends at Steps – 85 votes

9th place – Cantina – 54 votes

9th place – No 7 Fish Bistro & Wine Bar – 54 votes

Congratulations to every restaurant in this list. It’s not easy to have even one person thinking you’re the best, let alone over 50, so it’s an incredible achievement for all involved.

This isn’t the end of the Torquay Online awards. Shortly you’ll be able to vote for restaurant categories, so watch this space.
